About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. As a Registered Nurse in the NICU, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill newborns and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of self, care given by all health team members, and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patient toward outcomes.
  • Participate in in-service education programs and WRNMMC's Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Programs.
  • Administer and monitor oxygen therapy, ventilator support, and intensive pulmonary care techniques as needed.
  • Provide Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) interventions as indicated.
  • Provide intensive care to critically ill neonates with medical and surgical problems.
  • Operate cardio-respiratory monitors and interpret cardiac rhythms and respiratory patterns.
  • Document all patient care activities in a timely fashion and notify physicians accordingly.

Requirements:

  • A graduate of an Associate, Bachelor, or Master's program of Registered Nursing from a National League of Nursing (NLN) approved program.
  • Basic Life Support, S.T.A.B.L.E, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
  • Valid, unrestricted, RN license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the US.
  • At least two years of concurrent full-time Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last three years.
