Job Title: Project Engineer

Mark Thomas & Company is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Inland Empire transportation team. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in leading technical designs and coordinating tasks to complete small to medium-sized projects in accordance with the defined scope of work.

Responsibilities:
  • Complete PS&E plans packages of limited complexity
  • Coordinate in-house departments and sub-consultant deliverables, including field surveying, structures, right of way, traffic, geotechnical, and environmental elements
  • Prepare technical reports with reasonable independence
  • Take responsible charge of engineering deliverables for certain components of projects or for small projects in their entirety
  • Ensure that lower engineering staff, technicians, and interns are using current standards and efficiently applying appropriate software
  • Coordinate and support construction activities
  • Verify accuracy of project plans, cost estimates, quantities, reports, and exhibits
  • Apply knowledge of engineering procedures to applicable projects and assignments
  • Participate at a committee level in professional organizations
  • Mentor and manage internal design team efforts
  • Conduct internal technical training to staff to ensure compliance with drafting standards, project requirements, and current engineering practices
  • Gain knowledge of scope, budgets, agreements, and financial reporting systems
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering, MS in Engineering is a plus
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) License required; or PE in another state with the ability to obtain CA Licensure within one year
  • 4-6+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate and lead design groups
  • Demonstrated proficiency knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office to include MS Project, Teams, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency knowledge of general engineering principles, statics, dynamics of structures, and general engineering design
  • Knowledge of engineering procedures (right of way acquisition, environmental clearance, utility relocation)
  • Knowledge of construction practices
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
  • Possession of a valid driver's license

The base annual compensation range for this position is $94,000 - $145,000. The offered rate of compensation (California locations only) is based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
