Job Summary

As a Healthcare Specialist at Indiana University Health, you will play a vital role in facilitating patient flow from point of entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Your primary responsibility will be to obtain specific information to generate an accurate financial and demographic record for patients, ensuring maximum reimbursement and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule Appointments: Coordinate patient appointments, ensuring timely and efficient scheduling.
  • Interview Patients: Conduct thorough interviews with patients to gather necessary medical information.
  • Explain Charges and Policies: Clearly explain charges and policies to patients, ensuring they understand their financial obligations.
  • Validate and Enter Charges: Verify and enter charges into appropriate systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collect Payment: Collect payment from patients, handling any necessary transactions.
  • Answer Incoming Calls: Respond to incoming calls, directing patients and visitors to the appropriate personnel or resources.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Prefer relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Coding Knowledge: Ability to learn and retain medical coding, including ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Interpret insurance information and possess knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology.
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
