Overview:

The Senior Buyer at Amtec, LLC is a key authority in the field of procurement, focusing on negotiating with vendors for the acquisition of specific materials, components, equipment, or services. This role entails the responsibility for sourcing and procuring designated goods and services, with a trajectory that evolves from simpler to more intricate procurement tasks based on experience and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procures specialized materials, equipment, supplies, and services in compliance with established purchasing regulations and protocols.
  • Collects quotes, evaluates bids, and negotiates to achieve favorable terms that meet criteria such as cost, quantity, quality, and delivery timelines, ensuring timely order placements.
  • Collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to gather specifications essential for executing specific projects related to program requirements, participating in meetings, and reviewing departmental purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Interprets and communicates procurement procedures to both departments and suppliers, acting as a specialist in assigned material categories, and assists departments in initiating requisitions and orders.
  • Proactively identifies and resolves material-related issues to prevent shortages and reduce production delays, expediting orders and keeping internal stakeholders informed of any challenges.
  • Engages with other departments promptly to facilitate problem resolution, minimizing disruptions to the production schedule, and exercising initiative, discretion, and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Addresses conflicts regarding materials or services at both departmental and supplier levels, coordinating delivery and installation, and confirming with customers that all products are received in accordance with the original request or bid.
  • Assesses supplier performance and reliability, identifies potential suppliers, organizes necessary site visits, and develops new supply sources where existing suppliers fall short.
  • Monitors the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned purchase orders to ensure optimal quality at the best value.
  • Aims to meet annual productivity targets through cost reduction initiatives with suppliers.
  • Works in tandem with suppliers to manage rejections, inputs, edits, and retrieves purchasing data, and maintains files related to purchase orders and procurement activities.
  • Tracks on-time delivery performance for assigned commodities or suppliers, reviewing monthly results to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Communicates issues and risks to management promptly, which may lead to product interruptions, and recommends alternative solutions.
  • Manages the supplier base by maintaining performance metrics in quality, delivery, and pricing to support desired business objectives.
  • Collaborates closely with the Production Planner and Supply Chain Manager to understand all demand inputs contributing to the generation of purchasing requisitions.
  • Coordinates the efficient and timely movement of materials, purchase orders, and work orders throughout the procurement and manufacturing cycle.
  • Provides internal customers with pricing, lead times, and projected shipping dates, while being responsible for maintaining planning data fields such as lead time, minimum and maximum quantities, minimum orders, order multiples, and updating supplier contact information.
  • Ensures that all business is conducted with integrity and in adherence to all processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, material/production planning, or equivalent knowledge of supply chain functions.
  • Proficient in ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with machined and electronic components is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100 standards is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Proficient in computer systems that support production, including inventory control and Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to coordinate materials and production schedules across multiple teams.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary based on business needs and supplier locations.
