Core Responsibilities

  • Determine labor and overhead rates while accurately categorizing expenses
  • Examine work order discrepancies and assist in maintaining accurate bills of materials
  • Assess and uphold precise standard costs
  • Support enhancements in internal controls related to inventory management
  • Produce Purchase Price Variance reports and analyze results
  • Compare actual production expenses with anticipated costs
  • Oversee and manage inventory costing and reserve processes
  • Comprehend the inventory structure and customer relationships to facilitate month-end or daily operations
  • Assist in annual physical inventory counts
  • Contribute to the month-end closing process, ensuring accuracy in inventory account reconciliations
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams on general ledger account coding issues

Qualifications & Educational Background

  • At least 3 years of experience as a cost accountant in a manufacturing setting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; an MBA is advantageous
  • Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred
  • Experience with JD Edwards ERP is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis
  • Strong grasp of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting practices
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and analytical capabilities
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance, managerial accounting, budgeting, and cost control methods
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
