We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant I to join our team at IU Health West Outpatient Laboratory. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing general laboratory services, including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, and pre-analytic processing of specimens.
Responsibilities- Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing
- Enter orders and maintain accurate records
- Prepare blood components and other laboratory materials
- Perform pre-analytic processing of specimens, including labeling and packaging
- Provide excellent customer service and communication with patients and healthcare teams
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in laboratory software
