Phlebotomist

Geisinger Medical Laboratories is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team. As a Phlebotomist II, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients in our inpatient setting, processing specimens for analysis, and utilizing computer systems to register patients and facilitate billing.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines.
- Exhibit knowledge of adequate and correct collection requirements.
- Perform accessioning procedures appropriately and accurately to ensure positive identification of specimens.
- Recognize and resolve discrepancies as appropriate.
- Evaluate specimen suitability and acceptability.
- Resolve or refer problems as appropriate.
- Perform testing and record Point of Care instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control as assigned.
- Handle and replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols as assigned.
- Follow established reporting procedures as appropriate.
- Record and report problems and solutions as appropriate.
- Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed.
- Know and abide by related policies and procedures including compliance policies.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Valid Driver's License
