We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team at Geisinger Medical Center. As a Phlebotomist II, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients in our inpatient setting. You will work independently to perform venipunctures and skin punctures on patients of all ages, from neonates to adults. Your attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with patients will be essential in ensuring the highest quality specimens for testing.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood specimens from patients in a timely and efficient manner
- Perform venipunctures and skin punctures on patients of all ages
- Process specimens for analysis and ensure accurate identification
- Utilize computer systems to register patients, facilitate billing, and perform specimen accessioning and processing
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members to ensure a positive experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Valid Driver's License
- Experience as a nursing assistant (NA), certified nursing assistant (CNA), medical assistant (MA), certified medical assistant (CMA) or similar will be considered
- US Army 68W Combat Medic, 18D, US Navy Hospital Corpsman, and related medical specialties will be considered
