Job Summary

Durham Technical Community College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Humanities courses in the Humanities and Fine Arts Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student learning, and contributing to the department's academic mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Humanities courses, as assigned, to a diverse student population
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to promote student learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum and instructional strategies
  • Stay current with developments in the field of Humanities and incorporate relevant technologies and pedagogies into instruction
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives to promote student success and retention
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Humanities or a related field, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Humanities or related courses
  • Successful experience teaching at a university or community college
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and community partners
  • Ability to use modern instructional technologies, including learning management systems and online resources
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Humanities or a related field
  • Experience with curriculum development and instructional design
  • Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods, including standardized testing and rubrics
