About the Role

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a leading institution in cancer research and treatment, seeking a skilled Cytogenetics Technologist II to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic services to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complex cytogenetic procedures, including karyotyping and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), to diagnose genetic disorders.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with senior technologists and leadership to ensure seamless laboratory operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff members.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field, such as biology, genetics, or molecular biology.
  • At least three years of experience in a cytogenetics or genomics laboratory, or completion of a certified training program in cytogenetics or genomics.
  • Certification as a Cytogenetic Technologist (CG(ASCP)CM) or Molecular Biologist (MB(ASCP)CM) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of cancer genomics, hematological disorders, and related diagnostic testing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, patients, and healthcare professionals.
