Direct Support Professional

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals. As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide essential care and support to Adults in need, promoting their health, safety, and wellness.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct care services as needed, including counseling, training in ADLs, assistance with personal care, medical, dietary, social, safe sex awareness, recreational, financial, habilitative, and other needs.
- Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of everyone we support.
- Support with intimate care functions.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Participate in the development of treatment plans.
- Crisis intervention and management.
- Complete mandatory training based on the program and position, as well as any other applicable skills.
- Meet, demonstrate, and model professionalism.
- Assist clients in maximizing their strengths, interests, and capabilities through teaching, self-advocacy, and emotional support.
- Facilitate community integration, recreational activities, and socialization.
- Complete documentation to ensure compliance and billing.
- Competency training with the team.
- Take on additional tasks outside of basic DSP work or complete job-related tasks as needed.
- Community outings.
- Adhere to policy, procedures, and regulations.
- Use effective communication skills and time management skills.
- May need to provide one-to-one support in the community and/or day center.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment through various methods, including Personal Outcome Measures, Person-Centered Thinking, and Informed Decision Making.
- Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position, including frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching with hands and arms; use hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls; assist with lifting/moving individuals of any weight with assistance of equipment and/or other staff.
- Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds on occasions; having the physical capacity to work with and implement emergency interventions as per the person's Individual Behavior Support Plan and Individual Emergency Intervention Plan, if/as needed.
- Completion of annual continuing education units (CEUs) for professional development through competency-based training as required by Titles 17 & 22.
- Experience with Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities care is preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 18 Years old or older.
- Valid California Driver's License or State ID Required.
- Tuberculosis test is mandatory for all positions - an acceptable proof of negative TB test results within the last year.
- CPR Certified Preferred but will train - must obtain before direct client contact.
- Criminal Background Check, fingerprinting, and additional relevant/required clearances as required by Federal, State, and Local government or other agencies.
- Completion of Health Screening.
