Key Responsibilities
As a Respiratory Therapist (RT), you will administer a range of pulmonary diagnostic assessments, therapeutic interventions, and patient education initiatives. Your role includes ensuring the quality of testing equipment, overseeing test execution, and monitoring patients' physiological responses throughout the testing process. You will also provide essential education on disease management, medication usage, oxygen therapy, breathing exercises, and physical activity techniques tailored to patients with respiratory conditions, utilizing appropriate educational tools to meet their learning requirements. Maintaining a secure testing and exercise environment for patients is also a critical aspect of your responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must be graduates of an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited respiratory therapy program, holding at least an Associate Degree. The position requires independent functioning in accordance with established protocols. Strong decision-making and communication skills are essential for effective patient interaction, as a significant portion of your time will be dedicated to patient care. Previous experience is advantageous. All respiratory therapists must possess the National Board for Respiratory Care entry-level certification (CRT) before commencing employment. A current Minnesota Respiratory Therapist license (LRT) is mandatory or must be acquired within four months of hire. The Registered Respiratory Therapist credential is required upon hire or within one year of employment and must be maintained throughout your tenure. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or an equivalent is required, with additional life support certifications potentially mandated by the hiring site.
