Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Commercial Vehicle Operator to join our team.

Work Schedule

This position operates Monday through Friday, from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Role Summary

The Commercial Vehicle Operator is responsible for transporting products to and from customers, company facilities, and suppliers. This role ensures that deliveries are prepared to meet customer specifications efficiently and that all materials are accurate and undamaged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections of the company vehicle for any visible or operational issues and completes a daily inspection report.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and serviceability of the vehicle, notifying supervisors of any required repairs or maintenance.
  • Adheres to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and local/state driving laws.
  • Loads and unloads the vehicle, ensuring that all materials for each order are correct in quantity and type, and free from damage prior to departure.
  • May assist in preparing orders for delivery.
  • Completes all necessary documentation at the time of delivery, including obtaining customer signatures on delivery receipts and maintaining packing lists and manifests.
  • Collects material returns from customers, inspecting the condition and verifying quantities and catalog numbers.
  • Picks up materials from suppliers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years of driving experience, with at least 1 year of CDL driving experience preferred.
  • A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must pass a pre-employment and annual review of their Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Must obtain verification of a non-expired medical certificate as required by law.
  • No license suspensions for traffic violations within the past 3 years.
  • No at-fault accidents in the past 3 years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to manage loads with a combined weight of 26,000 GVW.
  • Capability to handle complex issues and challenges.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and familiarity with traffic and driver laws.
  • Willingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety protocols, and transportation laws.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position require the employee to regularly use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stand, talk, and hear, and occasionally walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The role may require lifting or moving up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This position is regularly exposed to airborne particles due to high levels of dust and dirt. The work environment may lack temperature control, making conditions dependent on the weather. Noise levels are typically moderate.
