Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Shop Technician III to join our team at Stewart & Stevenson. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and routine mechanical repairs on customer equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Accurately troubleshoot and diagnose routine problems with customer equipment, including trucks, buses, engines, and engine components.
  • Parts Procurement: Identify and order necessary parts to complete repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform routine repairs on customer equipment, replacing parts and equipment as needed.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to established guidelines and schedules.
  • Documentation: Complete all work orders and time sheets in a legible, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Collaboration: Consult with supervisors to ensure accuracy of diagnosis and approval for repair work, and provide assistance to more senior level Shop Technicians on larger jobs.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, and perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures.

Education and Experience

A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three to seven years related experience are required. Technical certification in automotive and/or diesel engine repair is preferred.

Computer Skills

Basic computer navigation and utilization skills are required, including the ability to utilize laptop computers and portable diagnostic tools.
