Position Details

Position Description

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington invite nominations and applications to lead the Fred Hutch Breast Cancer Program. As a key member of our team, you will provide strategic leadership with a strong vision to grow the program and contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in research in the area of Breast Cancer.

The position will be dual appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in the UW Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and the Division Head of Hematology and Oncology.

The incumbent will lead Fred Hutch's Breast Cancer Research and Clinical Program, galvanize multi-disciplinary translational breast cancer research within Fred Hutch, and serve as an academic, clinical, and educational leader. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, oversight, and mentorship of faculty and trainees on the breast oncology team, and oversight of clinical care delivery on the breast oncology service.

Appointment at Fred Hutch would be at the rank of associate or full professor in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch. Appointment to the full-time faculty at the UW would be at the rank of associate or full professor (without tenure due to funding). Academic appointments at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.

Opportunities exist for joint and/or affiliate appointment in the Fred Hutch Divisions of Public Health Sciences, Translational Science and Therapeutics, Human Biology, Basic Sciences, or Vaccine and Infectious Disease, depending on mutual interests.

Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will be appointed in the Clinician Scholar track and will spend approximately 30% of time on clinical care based on the candidate's interests (and institutional need). The remainder of the incumbent's time will be protected for research, administrative oversight of the Fred Hutch breast cancer clinical and research programs, teaching, and mentorship.

Fred Hutch is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

These values are grounded in and expressed through the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our mission is directly tied to the humanity, dignity, and inherent value of each employee, patient, community member, and supporter.
