Job Overview:
The Lead Engineer in Manufacturing Operations presents an excellent opportunity for a seasoned engineer with expertise in technical processes, team leadership, and continuous improvement methodologies. In this role, you will oversee a skilled team, manage a product line, deliver exceptional technical guidance, and play a vital role in our ongoing business expansion.


Key Responsibilities:


The Lead Engineer will be tasked with guiding a team of Product Engineers dedicated to the Linear Transfer Systems Value Stream. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Driving and supporting the execution of team projects across all areas.
  • Mentoring and leading the adoption of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Championing design for manufacturability within development initiatives.
  • Facilitating risk assessments, mitigation strategies, technical data package reviews, design evaluations, proposal activities, problem-solving, and failure analysis.
  • Assuming complete ownership of the technical facets of assigned product lines.
  • Collaborating with the Production Manager to allocate and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Promoting continuous improvement initiatives, including lean cell transformation, Statistical Process Control (SPC) implementation, and Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) practices.
  • Engaging in customer interface activities, resolving issues, and managing employee relations.
  • Developing and enhancing team talent and capabilities to meet current and future organizational needs.
  • Fostering a successful team-oriented environment.

Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A BS/MS degree in an engineering discipline, preferably in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or project management, with 10 or more years preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and the ability to guide project teams and clients through analytical processes.
  • Experience in problem-solving, leading cross-functional technical teams, project management, technical documentation, and cost estimation.
  • A background in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement methodologies, along with strong problem-solving capabilities.


Familiarity with explosive materials, ordnance devices, and/or missile and launch vehicle systems, as well as experience in developing manufacturing processes, is advantageous.


Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance and be capable of working on U.S. DoD and ITAR-restricted products.
