Radiological Control Technician II

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is seeking a skilled Radiological Control Technician II to join our team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas.
As a Radiological Control Technician II, you will be responsible for monitoring personnel, work areas, and items leaving radiological areas to control exposures from internal and external sources. You will also recommend personnel monitoring devices, protective equipment, and working time for operations and maintenance personnel working with sources of radiation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform monitoring of personnel, work areas, and items leaving radiological areas for control of exposures from internal and external sources.
• Recommend appropriate personnel monitoring devices, protective equipment, and working time for operations and maintenance personnel working with sources of radiation.
• Observe processes; read, record, evaluate, and report data from radiation detective devices, and air and bioassay sampling.
• Conduct investigations of cause and effect for results exceeding guides, standards, and limits.
• Calibrate instruments, operate automated low background counting equipment, process TLDs, and perform lung counts.
• Participate in the planning phase of new work processes. Serve as a member of the emergency response organization.
Requirements:
• Associate's or higher degree in a technical field and 2 to 5 years of related experience or high school diploma and 5 to 12 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and skills in technical specialty.
• DOE Q Clearance preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy.
