Certified Surgical Technologist/ORT Queens Contract

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and communicate the age-specific plan of care, providing thorough reports at change of shift and relief time.
- Participate in turnover activities and room setup for each surgical procedure, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Monitor each case to ensure all infection control measures are met and all sterilization standards are adhered to.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field, monitoring the aseptic technique of the surgical team and documenting accordingly.
- Perform sponge, sharp, and instrument counts with the RN, taking appropriate action when counts are incorrect.
- Ensure the safe use of equipment and instrumentation prior, during, and post-operatively, and assist the surgeon as needed.
- Minimum of one year experience as a Surgical Technologist or in a clinical setting.
- Successful completion from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist, and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Ability to function effectively in emergency situations.
