Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Systems Administrator to join our team in the IT Department of Washington County. This is a full-time position that offers a comprehensive benefits package.

The role involves a diverse range of administrative, managerial, and technical responsibilities associated with the planning, organization, and coordination of daily operations related to the county's computer system infrastructure and data processing activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting ongoing system analysis and strategic planning.
  • Overseeing daily operations to ensure the effective installation, operation, and maintenance of the county's computer systems.
  • Collaborating with the network manager on aspects such as network design, firewall configurations, VLAN assignments, and domain management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Systems Administration, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

AND

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in computer operations or IT systems administration.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Knowledge:

Applicants should possess considerable knowledge of:

  • Scripting languages and processes (PHP, Bash, JavaScript).
  • System design principles and computer networking.
  • Information system management concepts and hardware configurations.
  • Operating system fundamentals and data communication concepts.

Special Requirements:

  • Availability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to maintain computer operations.
  • Experience with Oracle systems is preferred.
