Job Description

At Prosperity Wellness Center, we are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing education, assessment, intervention, and outreach services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with patients in the program, providing psychoeducation and aiding in patient engagement and/or ATA blocks.
  • Perform job functions as determined by the Program Director, CEO, and needs of the facility.
  • Responsible for groups/lectures, including Alternative Self-Help meetings (Intro to NA, Dharma, Smart Recovery, etc.) at designated times as determined by the Program Director.
  • Meet with clients within 48 hours of admission to complete a patient engagement.
  • Meet with patients weekly to review individual work and self-help introductions.
  • Maintain support in clinical programming with specialty groups.
  • Work with patients to develop a daily routine focusing on behaviors needed for long-term recovery.
  • Orient the patient to the program and schedules.
  • Willingly share personal recovery experiences, demonstrate and model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
  • Assist in patient engagement and ATA blocking.
  • Meet with patients individually to provide treatment work, including but not limited to step work.
  • Provide support to patients' families, with patient consent.
  • Comply with facility policies and procedures.
  • Participate in all staff meetings; responsible for obtaining information.
  • Attend in-services and educational training as necessary and as assigned.
  • Approach patients/family members, significant others, and visitors with a respectful, caring manner to convey a sense of concern and warmth.
  • Work with the CEO on further outreach efforts.
  • Engage with patients during their day-to-day, facilitating a trusting, healthy bond for further outreach and involvement in the event of relapse or outreach.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records; and of facility proprietary, privileged, and/or confidential information.
  • Communicate and problem-solve via the chain of command.
  • Take the lead on reviewing and responding to D365/Videra alerts.
  • Deliver care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner, sensitive to patient and staff diversity.
  • Seek corrective criticism and have the ability to evaluate suggestions objectively.
  • Complete daily tasks as assigned and document the delivery of all patient services.
  • Promote a favorable/positive work atmosphere.
  • Seek out learning experiences and incorporate new knowledge into practice.
  • Maintain flexibility and adaptability to expected and unexpected changes in the work environment.

This is a part-time position that will work Thursday-Saturday, 8am - 4:30pm.
