Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver appropriate clinical supervision to nursing students during their practical training.
  • Provide effective clinical instruction tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Conduct clinical competency assessments for students under your guidance.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor that fosters a positive learning environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance evaluation and instructional skills.
  • Communicate regularly with program administrators regarding student performance and development.
  • Assist in the management of student clinical documentation.
  • Uphold confidentiality in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Participate in the student selection process for program admission as needed.
  • Contribute to meetings and committees aligned with the educational program's objectives.
  • Travel to various clinical sites may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current nursing license or multistate licensure privilege in Virginia as a registered nurse, free from disciplinary actions.
  • A minimum of two years of direct patient care experience as a registered nurse.
  • Meet all requirements for the clinical area in which students are supervised.
  • Hold at least an associate's degree in nursing.
  • Possess a valid American Heart Association BCLS certification.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrate effective conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Show proficiency in time management and prioritization.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess effective computer skills, including software use and report writing.
  • Maintain clinical competency and adhere to professional standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Establish a professional rapport with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Complete projects independently without constant supervision.
  • Learn from student interactions and maintain fairness and compassion in all dealings.
  • Perform duties within legal and ethical boundaries.
  • Capable of lifting 20 pounds as required.
  • Able to stand for extended periods during clinical instruction.
  • Demonstrate nursing-specific techniques effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
