Job Summary

St. Vincent De Paul Village is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Instructor I - Employment and Life Skills to join our team. As an Instructor, you will play a critical role in preparing unhoused adult clients for employment and life skills, with the ultimate goal of obtaining stable income and housing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement relevant and practical employment and life skill class lessons, monitoring student performance and supporting the FEP Generalist as needed.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, ensuring effective classroom management and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Student Support: Provide one-on-one support to students who require extra help or attention, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Communication: Regularly communicate with the Program Supervisor, case managers, housing navigators, and Residential staff regarding client success and challenges.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the EES Team to promote success, resolve barriers, and implement programs and services, participating in staff meetings and program reviews.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the CSTAR client database, including updating module service and case notes.
  • Training and Compliance: Complete assigned training and policies on time, adhering to program and agency procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, Social Services, or equivalent experience, with 2-4 years of experience in instruction and curriculum development.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of adult learners, alternative educational methods, and the ability to apply these methods to adult, homeless, and multicultural students. Bilingual English/Spanish is a must.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate user of MS Office, with a focus on basic computer instruction and MS Word resume building.
  • Driver's License: Must have a valid California Driver's License and be able to qualify for insurance coverage.
  • Screening: Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary.
