Tesla, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled Autonomous Vehicle Systems Engineer to join their team. With a strong background in vehicle engineering and a passion for innovation, this individual will play a crucial role in accelerating the development of autonomous vehicles.
The successful candidate will have a 2-year automotive degree or equivalent technical credentials, with in-depth knowledge of modern vehicle systems and how they operate. Experience in vehicle testing, specifically related to Vehicle Dynamics, Chassis Dynos, or Autonomous Vehicles, is preferred. Additionally, some fabrication skills and excellent written and spoken English are required.
As an Autonomous Vehicle Systems Engineer, the individual will be responsible for executing Tesla test procedures in areas such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Vehicle Dynamics, and Range. They will also prepare vehicles for testing, including instrumentation installation, part changes, and vehicle diagnostics. Furthermore, they will design and build new instrumentation or test equipment as needed.
The role requires the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-paced environment. The individual must be comfortable driving prototype vehicles at (or over) their limit on closed courses. Additionally, they will lead on- and off-site test trips, including management and support of other technicians and operators in test vehicle setup and test execution.
As a full-time Tesla employee, the successful candidate will be eligible for a competitive salary of approximately $120,000 per annum, based on the title, job description, and location. They will also be entitled to a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, as well as a 401(k) with employer match, employee stock purchase plans, and other financial benefits.
The company values diversity and inclusion, and offers a range of benefits to support employees, including family-building, fertility, adoption, and surrogacy benefits, LGBTQ+ care concierge services, and employee assistance programs. The company also offers commuter benefits, employee discounts, and perks, as well as a Tesla Babies program.
In this role, the individual will have the opportunity to work with internal and external test labs and proving grounds to direct testing activities. They will also mentor less-experienced technicians and operators to develop their skills and knowledge. The successful candidate will be required to document results of testing and communicate issues found to the lead test engineer.
Tesla is an innovative and dynamic company that is pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology. If you are a motivated and skilled individual with a passion for innovation, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
