Position Overview: We are in search of a Cybersecurity Red Team Analyst who will be instrumental in fortifying our cybersecurity framework. This role involves assessing the efficacy of our security measures and detection capabilities through proactive security operations and cooperative purple teaming initiatives. By leveraging their knowledge of threat actors, the analyst will simulate potential cyber threats within our systems, meticulously documenting their findings and methodologies. This process will yield critical insights into vulnerabilities and outline strategies for enhancing our security protocols. The analyst will also be responsible for effectively communicating these results to various stakeholders, ensuring that leadership is informed of potential threats and can implement necessary mitigation strategies. This role is vital in safeguarding our organization from potential cyber threats and ensuring the integrity of our data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Offensive Cybersecurity Operations: Execute covert assessments to evaluate the organization's security posture against cyber threats.
- Perform Penetration Testing: Carry out thorough evaluations of web applications, digital platforms, and other systems utilizing both manual and automated testing methodologies.
- Engage in Purple Teaming: Lead collaborative exercises with internal Incident Response and Threat Hunting teams to bolster the organization’s defensive strategies.
- Execute Multi-stage Attack Simulations: Collaborate with Red Team members to replicate attacks, including initial access, privilege escalation, lateral movement, and data exfiltration.
- Create Threat Mimicry: Imitate adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to evaluate defensive capabilities and identify vulnerabilities.
- Conduct Security Control Evaluations: Assess the detection and response capabilities of security measures, including SIEM, EDR, and network monitoring solutions.
- Investigate C2 Techniques: Research and implement new command and control techniques and tools to evade detection and enhance operational effectiveness. Monitor and analyze C2 traffic for anomalies and indicators of compromise (IOCs).
- Provide Technical Guidance: Offer technical expertise and advice to the vulnerability management team on developing custom scanning signatures and techniques. Additionally, mentor threat hunters on adversary behaviors, attack methodologies, and IOCs.
- Contribute to Culture Building: Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within all Cyber Operations teams.
- Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with emerging threats and vulnerabilities impacting web applications or endpoints and integrate them into assessment methodologies.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience.
- 5 years of experience in IT, with a minimum of 1 year focused on offensive security.
- Experience in Red/Purple team exercises and penetration testing.
- Proficiency in command and control frameworks (e.g., Cobalt Strike).
- Certifications such as CEH, OSCP, GWAPT, Sec+, or GIAC are preferred.
- Familiarity with both open-source and commercial offensive security tools, as well as cloud-based attacker infrastructure deployment.
- Strong understanding of web application vulnerabilities, OWASP Top 10, Threat Intelligence, and Threat Profiling.
- Experience with IDS/IPS, SIEM, network defense tools, DLP technologies, network security architecture, and enterprise anti-virus/malware solutions.
- Proficiency with Burp Suite and testing web applications and APIs.
- Familiarity or experience with the Electron framework is preferred.
- Ability to maintain discretion and integrity at all times.
- Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.
