Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychologist to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals. As a Senior Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical services to patients, supervising junior staff, and contributing to the development of mental health programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Leadership
    • Supervise the work of unlicensed psychologists and other subordinate staff in the areas of diagnosis, therapy, and research.
    • Coordinate their activities with the work of other professional workers.
  • Clinical Services
    • Evaluate and develop habilitation plans and treat individuals for addictions, cognitive impairments, and neuropsychological disorders.
    • Administer therapy in difficult atypical cases, which may include individual, group and family counseling and/or therapy.
  • Training and Education
    • Coordinate training programs and conduct case conferences and seminars for training purposes.
    • Give formal and informal instruction to psychologists and psychologists-in-training on diagnostic, therapeutic and research techniques.
  • Program Development
    • Conduct in-service training programs by organizing and staffing conferences and seminars, drawing up curricula, and evaluating efficiency of programs.
  • Specialized Services
    • May perform relevant clinical professional activities.
    • May be part of a 24-hour trauma team providing counseling/evaluation at crisis situations within the New York metropolitan area.
    • May work with City's Family Court System to conduct assessments for termination of parental rights, custody disputes, neglect and abuse cases.
    • May provide evaluations of fitness to proceed and pre-sentencing evaluations to Criminal Courts.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure
    • Valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED; or
    • Proof of passing licensing examination and proof that completed license application and all supporting documentation have been submitted to NYSED, which leads to licensure and registration, within six (6) months.
