The Cooling Systems Engineer plays a vital role within the engineering division, concentrating on refrigeration technologies while also engaging with various engineering fields, including Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Facilities, and Process Engineering.


Key Responsibilities:
• Offer expert guidance in the realm of Refrigeration Engineering.

• Make informed decisions that align with departmental objectives.

• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and other departments to resolve daily operational challenges.

• Develop innovative solutions to complex problems and manage issues autonomously.


• Provide engineering project assistance for the design and execution of new and upgraded facilities, systems, and equipment utilized in manufacturing processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and safety protocols.


• Engage in various Engineering domains within a Manufacturing setting, such as Project Management, Plant Reliability, and Utilities.

• Work alongside other functional areas including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Compliance.

• Mentor entry-level engineers based on personal experience.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Exhibit exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and communication skills.

• Demonstrate strong technical acumen and problem-solving capabilities in a manufacturing context.

• Design and manage manufacturing technologies for the organization.

• Oversee quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Engineer I:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.

• 0-2 years of relevant experience.

Engineer III:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Biotech or Chemical environment.

• Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is preferred.

Engineer IV:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.

• Professional certifications and licenses as applicable.

• At least 5 years of experience, preferably in Biotech, Chemical, or Industrial settings.

• GMP experience is preferred.

Senior Engineer Level:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.

• Professional registration and/or certifications as appropriate.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience, preferably in Biotech, Chemical, or Industrial environments.

• GMP experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrate strong technical and regulatory expertise, with the ability to adapt to evolving circumstances.

• Exhibit flexibility in assignments across different units or plants.

• Complete tasks across multiple business units or functional areas.

• Communicate effectively at all organizational levels, supporting departmental goals and management directives.

• Lead teams and foster a collaborative approach.

Additional Knowledge:
• Familiarity with various refrigerants such as R134a, R22, NH3, CO2, 404a, R507a, and others.

• Experience transitioning from synthetic refrigerants to natural alternatives or those with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP).

• Knowledge of cold glycol systems operating between -25°C to +5°C and higher temperatures.

• Understanding of primary, secondary, and tertiary pumping systems.

• Proficiency in diagnosing issues with freezer evaporators, compressor units, defrost systems, etc.

• Expertise in HVAC systems, including knowledge of differential pressure.

Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of the stated requirements.

Work is conducted in both office and laboratory/manufacturing environments, with potential exposure to biological materials and infectious agents. Occasional exposure to extreme cold in production areas is expected. Personal protective equipment is required, including eyewear, garments, and gloves. The role involves sitting for extended periods, standing, and frequent hand movements. The ability to perform precise tasks and communicate complex information effectively is essential.
