The Medical Imaging Specialist performs routine x-ray examinations in alignment with Concentra's policies, practices, and applicable regulations under the direct supervision of the attending clinician, while also providing support in various other areas of the facility.

This position demands efficient and precise delivery of personalized patient care in a dynamic environment.

The Medical Imaging Specialist ensures that every patient receives high-quality clinical care and enjoys an exceptional patient experience, thanks to welcoming, respectful, and skilled colleagues.


Responsibilities:
Medical Imaging Specialist Duties

Prepare patients for imaging procedures.

Guide patients to changing and imaging rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions, and assist patients in positioning their bodies for imaging.

Explain procedures and monitor patients to guarantee their care, safety, and comfort during the imaging process.

Operate imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images of the body. Position imaging devices and adjust settings to meet the specifications of the examination. Conduct x-ray procedures following established imaging standards and regulations to ensure patient safety and care.

Implement radiation safety protocols and protective measures to safeguard patients and team members.

Ensure imaging equipment is maintained in optimal working condition. Report any equipment issues to the Center Operations Director.

Adhere to all Radiology workflows and ensure accurate integration of Radiology reports into the EMR.

Follow documentation protocols and complete all necessary paperwork related to patient imaging visits.

Maintain all imaging equipment, including calibration, quality assurance, and record-keeping in accordance with current policies and procedures.

Medical Support Duties

Conduct Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol screenings.

Prepare patients for physical assessments, including taking vital signs and conducting any required or requested ancillary tests, such as vaccinations, injections, phlebotomy, pulmonary function tests, audiograms, and respirator fit tests (in compliance with state regulations).

Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).

Assist healthcare providers during examinations and treatments.

Responsible for executing routine medical procedures as directed by the attending clinician and triaging urgent patients as necessary.

Prepare and assist clinicians with procedure setups and injury care.

Apply dressings, bandages, and splints as instructed by the attending clinician.

Dispense medications and durable medical equipment as ordered by the clinician, adhering to state regulations.

Conduct quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices, as well as testing processes utilized in the center.

Maintain inventory, clean examination rooms and equipment, and stock supplies in exam rooms.

Operate all medical devices and equipment, ensuring calibration and record-keeping align with current policies and procedures.

Notify supervisors immediately of any equipment malfunctions, supply shortages, or operational issues within the facility.

Collaborate with center leadership to assist with patient flow and volume management.

Keep patients informed about expected wait times throughout their visit.

Perform clerical tasks in both front and back office settings related to patient care and accurate record-keeping.

Ensure precision in documentation.

Perform front office duties:
Welcome patients, obtain necessary authorizations, check patients in and out, communicate wait times, manage a multi-line phone system, and distribute employer results and paperwork as required.

Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and safety protocols.

Participate in center staff meetings or huddles as necessary.

Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly facility appearance.

Complete any required training, including ongoing clinical competency training that occurs monthly.

Qualifications:

Education Level:
High School Diploma or GED

Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program and applicable state certification.

Registered with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and holds active and valid certification.

CPR/First Aid Certification

Job-Related Experience

Typically has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience with knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.

Preferred working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state-specific) along with prior experience in medical office, healthcare, and/or customer service roles.

Obtain all necessary certifications required of Medical Support Specialists, including but not limited to Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry into various systems/applications.
