Company Overview:
The California Independent System Operator (ISO) is responsible for overseeing the flow of electricity across the extensive high-voltage power lines that constitute a significant portion of California's power grid. Our mission is to ensure the economic stability and well-being of millions of Californians by maintaining a reliable electricity supply around the clock.
As an impartial entity, the California ISO facilitates access to the wholesale power market, promoting resource diversity and competitive pricing. We provide equal access to our vast network of power lines, fostering a fair environment for various energy resources to serve customers effectively.
Our role is akin to that of air traffic controllers, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of electricity to utilities and consumers without bias. We operate independently, managing the flow of electricity on a grid we do not own.
Commitment to Employees:
The California ISO prioritizes the health, safety, and work-life balance of its employees, offering flexible work arrangements, including options for on-site or hybrid schedules. Relocation assistance is also available.
Under the guidance of the Manager, you will oversee the technical administration of project and program management software tools. Your role will involve:
- Administering project management software (MS Project and Project Server) to establish standardized features for project and resource managers.
- Creating reports and dashboards to support senior leadership in complex decision-making processes.
- Monitoring and coordinating special projects and ongoing initiatives.
- Assisting in the implementation of programs, including training and organizational communications.
- Developing templates, processes, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and strategic execution of complex projects.
- Implementing tools for modernizing project management practices, including the Program Lifecycle (PLC) and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Providing technical support and training to ISO staff on relevant processes and tools.
- Supporting portfolio planning processes as needed.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, supplemented by equivalent education and training.
Certifications:
Preferred certifications include Project Management Professional, Certified Scrum Master, or PlanView.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Project, SharePoint, Power BI, and Excel is essential. Experience with Project/Program Management tools, including Microsoft Project Server and SharePoint, is required. Familiarity with SQL scripting and database management is advantageous.
Additional Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and solve problems effectively are crucial. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
