Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Library Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for sorting, shelving, and processing library materials, as well as assisting with clerical, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort and shelve library materials in a timely and accurate manner
  • Process library materials, including checking in and out books, DVDs, and other materials
  • Assist with clerical tasks, such as answering phones, responding to emails, and performing data entry
  • Perform maintenance and housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning and organizing the library
  • Assist with program and display set-up and tear down as assigned
Requirements
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with patrons, staff, and community members
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and perform detailed work
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively, with or without accommodation
  • Ability to use office equipment, such as computers and printers
Working Conditions

The Library Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The position requires standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, and moving materials by hand and on carts. The Library Assistant must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.
