Job Summary

We are seeking two friendly and energetic individuals to join our team as Library Assistants - Shelving and Processing. As a Library Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the organization and accessibility of our library materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort, shelve, and process library materials in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist with clerical, maintenance, and housekeeping tasks as assigned
  • Participate in program and display set-up and tear down as needed
  • Interact courteously with patrons, answering simple questions and providing direction to areas within the library
  • Provide basic assistance on self-check to patrons
  • Read spreadsheets and search the library for materials
  • Accurately shelve materials numerically and alphabetically
Requirements
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with patrons, staff, community, and vendors
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and perform detailed work
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying physical demands, including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, and moving materials
  • Ability to lift up to [insert weight] repetitively, with or without accommodation
  • Ability to use office equipment

Work Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours per week, with 3 evening shifts per week and occasional Fridays or Saturdays, with some Sundays. Schedule subject to change based on library needs.
