Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Documenting and Processing Laboratory Tests: You will be responsible for documenting verbal orders for laboratory tests, logging all specimens drawn into the laboratory information system, and processing non-admit specimens.
- Performing Laboratory Analyses: You will perform analyses on the laboratory test directory, including performing procedures as outlined in the appropriate procedure manual protocol, learning new procedures, and demonstrating competence.
- Entering Test Results and Maintaining Quality Control: You will enter test results into the computer, verify results for accuracy, and monitor quality control results for trends and deviations.
- Maintaining a Clean and Organized Work Area: You will maintain a clean and orderly work area, including disposing of hazardous materials and maintaining equipment.
- Collaborating with the Technical Supervisor: You will assist the technical supervisor in testing, evaluating, and selecting new equipment, and participate in hospital and departmental quality assessment and improvement activities.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in medical laboratory technology, including knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control, and safety protocols. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
