This position is integral to Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, providing essential Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all our facilities.

As a vital member of a dedicated team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will deliver both tactical and technical assistance to Engineering, Production, and Manufacturing. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, testing, verification, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized testing apparatus.
  • Working from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions, layouts, or defined plans to execute testing, verification, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Conducting operational tests and isolating faults in systems and equipment.
  • Assisting in the identification of methods or actions to resolve malfunctions.
  • Supporting the design, construction, testing, and verification of testing equipment.
  • Utilizing manufacturing, testing, development, or diagnostic tools, including but not limited to test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized testing devices.

Travel Requirements: This role necessitates travel for initial training purposes.

Shift Availability:

This position mandates flexibility in shift scheduling to accommodate business needs. The available shifts are as follows:

  • A Shift: Monday-Thursday 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • B Shift: Monday-Thursday 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM
  • C Shift: Friday-Sunday 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • D Shift: Friday-Sunday 5:00 PM - 5:30 AM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Precision assembly of rocket engine components, including combustion devices, valves, turbomachinery, avionics, and testing equipment.
  • Root cause analysis and diagnostic disassembly, repair, and maintenance.
  • Conducting hydraulic tests for valve actuation.
  • Performing nitrogen and helium leak tests.
  • Preparing components for environmental testing.
  • Executing hydro-proof structural tests on components.
  • Conducting detailed inspections of components to tolerances of 0.0001 inches.
  • Maintaining strict cleanliness standards, particularly for liquid and gaseous oxygen compatibility.
  • Assisting in the design, procurement, installation, and integration of custom manufacturing and testing equipment.
  • Managing inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Safely handling hazardous systems, chemicals, and fast-paced operations.
  • Defining preparation methods for hardware testing, qualification, and flight.
  • Identifying, developing, and implementing new manufacturing techniques to enhance quality, reduce costs, and optimize production schedules.
  • Supporting Design for Manufacturing and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, production, and testing.
  • Contributing to the development of manufacturing work instructions that clearly outline processes such as receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, testing, integration, and refurbishment.
  • Identifying non-conformances and implementing corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • 4 to 6 years of direct experience in valve, turbomachinery, or engine assembly.
  • Expertise in precision assembly and tight tolerance work.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proven experience in developing new processes successfully.
  • Excellent written, personal, technical, and software skills (including CAD, scheduling, issue tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to foster trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and enhance our culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee or asylee.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
    • Capability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durations.
    • Flexibility in work schedule based on hardware and testing needs.
    • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
  • Able and willing to travel for initial training.
