Educational Support Specialist

The Educational Support Specialist (including substitutes and floaters) collaborates with the Lead Teacher to implement the classroom curriculum in compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines. This role is essential in ensuring that services align with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma-informed care perspective as defined by the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create a classroom environment where children understand expectations, are aware of rules, and experience consistency while fostering positive relationships through effective communication, appropriate physical proximity, respect, positive discipline, and guidance.
2. Maintain vigilant supervision of children at all times.
3. This position may be structured as a 10-month or 12-month role, allowing for year-round work or summer breaks.
Qualifications:
1. A High School Diploma or GED along with a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is required; pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education is preferred.
2. Prior experience in a classroom setting and the ability to apply diverse learning strategies effectively.
3. Awareness of cultural differences and sensitivity to their implications for service delivery.
4. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification.
5. Proficiency in both English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) is desirable.
