Security Shift Manager

CEDCO: The Mill Casino Hotel & RV Park is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Shift Manager to join our team. As a key member of our security department, you will be responsible for promoting a safe and secure environment for our guests and employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment for employees and guests.
- Address safety concerns proactively and report to the Safety Committee and Director of Security.
- Ensure guest and employee escorts to and from the casino when requested.
- Provide security assessments and guidance on all organizational levels.
- Assist in the development and compliance of casino operational policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with casino policy and report policy infractions to the Director of Security.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in handling routine and non-routine situations.
- Ensure regular training is conducted for security personnel.
- Ensure security patrols of all casino property.
- Ensure timely and efficient machine and table drops.
- Prevent unauthorized persons from accessing casino property.
- Prevent minors from accessing the gaming floor.
- Assist with altercations when necessary.
- Assist with departmental budget concerns.
- Communicate with various levels of management to oversee security operations.
- In the absence of the Director of Security, assume the duties of this position.
- Ensure suspicious activity and drug use is handled and documented appropriately.
- Observe and follow the chain of command in handling job functions and maintain confidentiality.
- Review and approve security reports and deliver approved reports to the record keeper.
- Respond to and assist with medical emergencies.
- Ensure daily activity reports and head counts are completed correctly.
- Conduct or monitor operational departmental duties.
- Assist in the training and development of Tribal Member employees following the Mill Casino's Tribal Member Preference Policies.
- Monitor shift overtime in a cost-conscious and effective manner.
- Participate in solving property issues while working effectively with all property managers.
- Accept responsibility and provide guidance for the entire security department as a departmental leader.
- Attend necessary training to further work-related experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED with additional related college or professional courses and training (degree preferred but not required).
- Must have a current valid Oregon driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Must have at least three years of full-time employment experience in casino security and/or law enforcement (military or civilian).
- Two years of supervisory experience required. Supervisory experience in the security profession preferred, security supervisory experience within a hospitality industry highly preferred.
- EMR certification or the ability to obtain EMR certification within one year of hire.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to assume the duties of the Director as needed.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an OLCC Service Permit.
- Computer skills must include Microsoft Word, Office, Excel, and Windows applications for word processing.
- Must be able to observe the chain of command and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must maintain a home or cell phone number listed on the Security Department roster.
- Must pass and remain in compliance with the Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug-free workplace policies.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts as required by the Security Department.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to walk for extended periods.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations within a reasonable time, running to the emergency may be required.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit for long periods if the situation dictates.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Ability to manage anger, stress, fear, violence, and hostility of others appropriately.
- Ability to work in an environment that may expose you to second-hand smoke and/or outdoor elements.
- Ability to work in an environment that may expose you to loud noises from the casino floor.
