Position Purpose:
The Construction Safety Supervisor is responsible for managing the MW Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) program, acting as a safety consultant to ensure adherence to safety regulations by the project team and subcontractors across various job sites within the designated area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the formulation of Site-Specific Safety Plans for new projects.
- Oversee the implementation of MW Safety initiatives specific to each project.
- Encourage and support a culture of safety within all ongoing projects.
- Provide direction on safety policies and their enforcement.
- Ensure compliance with MW safety protocols, including safety documentation, training, and submittals.
- Verify that project teams conduct HCSS Safety inspections in accordance with company guidelines.
- Execute comprehensive job site audits bi-weekly.
- Deliver safety training to project teams covering MW, client, and OSHA standards.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and accidents.
- Ensure that contractors align with MW safety expectations.
- Guide project teams in effective hazard identification and resolution.
- Analyze data and generate reports on safety trends and actions for project teams.
- Represent MW Safety at client engagements.
- Promote MW safety initiatives.
- Conduct orientations for new employees.
- Administer pre-employment and post-incident drug and alcohol testing.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) certification with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in construction safety and health, or
- Hold a Board of Certified Safety Professionals (ASP, GSP, or SMS) certification with at least 6 years of relevant experience in construction safety and health, or
- Have a Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CHST or OHST) certification with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in construction safety and health.
Additionally, candidates should have the following training and knowledge:
- Completion of the OSHA 500 course for construction within the last 24 months, remaining current throughout the project duration.
- Proof of non-expired First Aid/CPR/AED certification from Red Cross or an equivalent organization.
- Completion of FMCSA compliant 2-hour drug and alcohol reasonable suspicion supervisor training.
- Understanding of the responsibilities of a contractor safety representative as outlined in the manual and contractor's CSPP where applicable.
Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques, and practices.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and policies.
- Adept at identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective measures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
- Excellent management, leadership, and interpersonal abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to pursue CHST or CSP certifications.
- Engage in industry-related training sessions, conferences, and seminars to remain updated on best practices and networking opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities:
This role is based in the Colorado Office:
- Respond to emergency situations outside of regular hours.
- Travel may be necessary between job sites in the region.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must pass a background check for access to secure locations.
Work Environment:
Work may be conducted both indoors and outdoors, with a typical noise level ranging from moderate to loud. Employees may encounter varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. Physical demands include the ability to climb ladders and navigate confined spaces as necessary.
