Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

The Language Services Specialist will report directly to the Field Office Director. This role entails the critical responsibility of listening to, comprehending, and translating spoken or written communications from one language to another.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enable effective communication between parties who do not share a common language by accurately converting spoken or written content;
  • Uphold professionalism and maintain strict confidentiality to ensure the privacy of clients at all times;
  • Adhere to all policies and regulations set forth by the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants;
  • Participate in ongoing education and training as recommended;
  • Execute additional job-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency is essential;
  • A strong commitment to the rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced individuals is preferred;
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to utilize manual dexterity, as well as tactile, visual, and auditory acuity;
  • Capability to perform repetitive motions, endure prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and manage sustained visual and mental focus;
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying may be required.
