Key Responsibilities
The Dietetic and Nutrition Specialist II (Clinical Dietitian II) engages in advanced nutrition services, including:

  • Providing training and support to staff and family members.
  • Assessing patients' nutritional status through laboratory and anthropometric data.
  • Designing specialized therapeutic menus tailored to individual nutrient and texture requirements.
  • Collaborating with the patient’s recovery team and participating in project teams.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports and conducting quality assessments of menu and nutrition services.
  • Offering technical assistance and guidance to others as needed.

Program Monitoring
The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for:

  • Monitoring and evaluating nutrition programs and services.
  • Investigating complaints and deficiencies.
  • Providing referrals and consultations on nutrition.
  • Training dietetic interns as necessary.
  • Assisting in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Preparing reports and surveys to support program effectiveness.

Work Environment
This role operates under the general supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services, allowing for moderate independence and initiative. The position may require participation in disaster response efforts or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which could involve alternate shift patterns.

Essential Functions
Regular attendance is crucial, and the position may require adherence to specific shift schedules, including potential rotating shifts or overtime. Key functions include:

  • Providing medical nutrition therapy for psychiatric patients.
  • Evaluating nutritional status and developing individualized care plans based on patient needs.
  • Creating educational programs and materials to enhance nutrition knowledge.
  • Preparing and reviewing food and nutrition data for leadership.
  • Developing complex therapeutic menus to meet specific medical needs.
