Job Title: Quality Control Specialist – AOI

Job Function: Quality Assurance

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Specialist – AOI is responsible for operating the Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machine, performing quality inspections, and providing AOI support. This role reports to the Production Supervisor and is located at Unigen.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

1. AOI Operation and Maintenance

  • Responsible for the entire AOI operation and line support activities.
  • Review AOI inspection for accurate and consistent detection of component placement and solder joint defects.
  • Support and maintain test handlers, troubleshoot AOI machine as necessary to support production.
  • Assist the supervisor in carrying out various studies for quality improvement, program, and cycle time optimization for AOI operation.
  • Work closely with the processing and engineering teams to improve visual defect yields and resolve processing issues.

2. AOI-Related Quality Inspection Tasks

  • Inspect components or feature chips, ICs, joints, text, connectors, clips, screws, etc., using the AOI computer-operated machine.
  • Inspect populated printed circuit boards and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards, using magnification aids and stereomicroscopes.
  • Read, understand, and follow customer drawings, specifications, instructions, and requirements as they apply to inspect printed circuit board assembly.
  • Load AOI programs per instructions.
  • Perform AOI inspection for accurate and consistent detection of SMT paste, component placement, and solder joint defects.
  • Detect and report problems and issues in the operation process and components.

3. Support to Engineers and Production Operators

  • Assist engineers in data collection and engineering evaluations.
  • Communicate defects to responsible personnel.
  • Inspect populated PCBs and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards using a microscope.
  • Responsible for daily/shiftly yield, efficiency, and effectiveness report.
  • Support improvement initiatives and participate actively to improve the work environment (5S).

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience operating AOI equipment.
  2. High School Diploma.
