About the Role

Welltower is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in managing our company's litigation and providing legal support for asset management and operational issues in our seniors housing operating communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Litigation: Oversee the company's litigation, including corporate and professional liability litigation, and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Process Improvement: Create and streamline processes for discovery responses and operator management of cases, utilizing RMIS system for data analytics and loss prevention.
  • Litigation Data Management: Develop and maintain the process for collecting, organizing, and analyzing all litigation data across our portfolio.
  • Legal Support: Provide consultation and advice to investment and asset management teams on day-to-day legal compliance issues in our portfolio, and provide legal support and directed training on operational issues and disputes.
  • Communication and Training: Develop and foster effective communication of current trends and regulatory changes among Welltower's stakeholders, including internal team members and industry associations.
  • Special Projects: Provide general assistance with special projects as needed.
Requirements
  • Law Degree: A law degree (J.D.) is required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as an attorney in litigation and regulatory compliance, including experience with seniors housing.
  • Skills: Strong familiarity with Federal and State health care laws, licensing and other standards, Medicare and Medicaid programs, and data privacy regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including intermediate Excel skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, superior organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel: Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
