Job Summary:

Jackson Walker is seeking a highly skilled Director of Information Governance to oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of information governance policies and procedures. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as best practices within the legal industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement information governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with IT and General Counsel to develop the IG strategic plan and IG policies.
  • Provide direction to IG stakeholder functions, including legal, risk/compliance, and IT/security.
  • Maintain a detailed and complete inventory of all on-premise and cloud-hosted electronic information repositories.
  • Collaborate with the Litigation Support team to assist with discovery collections pertaining to legal matters involving the Firm.
  • Ensure that the Firm's information assets are appropriately handled throughout their life cycles in accordance with the organization's policy and legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement the IG program requirements to ensure compliance with relevant federal and state laws and regulations and the organization's policies and procedures applicable to IM.
  • Develop and lead annual training and awareness sessions for employees and others to increase their knowledge and understanding of IG.
  • Address and provide guidance for compliance activities.
  • Work with legal counsel to ensure that activities associated with legal holds and discovery requests are in accordance with internal and external requirements.
  • Evaluate hardware, software, and data life cycles for applications related to this job and position in the Firm.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to IG standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Information Technology, Legal Studies, or a related field. JD is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in information governance or related fields, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Experience working with a document management system (iManage experience is a plus).
  • Experience working with Microsoft Purview.
  • Candidates must be highly organized and capable of working independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written required.
  • Strong knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations, information security best practices, and records management principles.
  • Experience managing a team and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions:

Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise and temperature.
