Position Overview
The Patient Care Technician operates under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse, providing essential care to designated patients. This role involves administering basic treatments and delivering bedside assistance, while closely monitoring patients for any changes in their condition and effectively communicating observations.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Patient Care Technician may include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Registered Nurse in delivering nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with established protocols.
- Accurately measuring and documenting vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Recording patient care and vital statistics in the Hospital Information System.
- Conducting EKG tests as required.
- Ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of patients.
- Performing ward clerk duties when necessary.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in patient care areas and equipment.
- Responding promptly to patient call lights and providing necessary assistance.
- Carrying out additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Nurse Aide certification or comparable qualification
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Completion of a training course in acute care skills
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the workday
- Capability to lift and transport patients
- Adequate visual and auditory perception
Preferred:
- Prior experience as an EKG Technician or Ward Clerk
Additional Information

Positions may be subject to changes in workdays and shifts as necessary. Night shift differentials are available, and this role may require respiratory protection, which could restrict facial hair.
Prior to employment, candidates must complete a pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Employee Health Services, as well as pass a 4-panel drug screening and meet regulatory pre-employment screening requirements. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in a delayed start date or revocation of the job offer.
