Responsibilities- Assist teachers with daily activities, including food service and preparation
- Provide supervision and assistance to children during classroom hours, bus, and field trips
- Assist with meal preparation, serving, and cleaning up after meals and snacks
- Model developmentally appropriate behavior and activities in dealing with children, families, and staff
- Interact with parents or guardians during pick-up and delivery of children
- Ensure children are dropped off to only authorized contacts on file with BELA
- Assist in managing emergency situations, such as a parent or known guardian not being present during delivery and/or pickup of child
- Highly Qualified status (High School Diploma/GED and Associate degree or 48 hours of college credit or have passed the Workkeys test)
- Previous working knowledge of computers, internet, and web browsers, word processing, and electronic timesheets using an internet-based system
- English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking) is required for all positions
- Ability to follow detailed schedules, programs, and policies
- Certified CPR and First Aid
- Ability to understand and strictly adhere to the Delta Family Center confidentiality policy
- Ability to express patience and understanding with all children at all times
- Ability to read and understand written materials
- Ability to work under the supervision of Backpack/BELA/Family Literacy coordinators
- Ability to be flexible with schedules and job assignment
- Willingness to attend conferences and trainings
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds or more
- Excellent people skills
- Able to multitask
- Work ethic that exemplifies enthusiasm, teamwork, and self-motivation
- Fingerprint and background clearance
This position may be required to work in a kitchen or food prep setting, where floors may be wet. They may also be required to wash dishes that require swift arm movements and standing for longer periods of time.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
