Radiation Oncology Nurse Navigator

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Oncology Nurse Navigator to join our team at Medstar. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating patient care across the continuum of Radiation Oncologic care for all patients.
Key Responsibilities- Perform intake, assessment, and triage of patients referred for Radiation Therapy
- Serve as a liaison for referring physicians and manage the acquisition of pertinent medical records
- Plan and implement the patient evaluation process, facilitating evaluation by interfacing with referring physicians and MGUH services
- Coordinate complex patient management at various stages of diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, collaborating with all disciplines involved in patient care
- Identify opportunities for patient participation in clinical trials and communicate information to physicians, research coordinators, and referring physicians
- Navigate patients and caregivers through the continuum of care, providing education and resources about medical conditions, diagnostic procedures, treatments, clinical trials, support services, and hospital processes
- Serve as an ongoing resource for patient and caregiver education and support
- Communicate patient progress and disposition to healthcare providers and maintain outcome databases
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred
- 3-4 years of clinical nursing experience required; experience with surgical oncology, inpatient/outpatient/community oncology services preferred
- Clinical maturity and experience, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers
This position requires a high level of advocacy and problem-solving ability, as well as the ability to multitask and organize advocacy and support for a large and varied group of cancer patients and their families.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge and access to multiple electronic systems to facilitate patient care and documentation.
This position has a hiring range of $87,094.40 - $149,094.40.
