We are a non-profit retirement community focused on providing exceptional care for seniors, including independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing services. Our primary goal is to ensure compassionate care for all residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Vitality and Well-being Department to design and execute a comprehensive wellness program that addresses the diverse emotional, social, and spiritual needs of our residents.
  • Facilitate music therapy sessions and general music programs tailored to individual resident care plans, ensuring a personalized approach to therapy.
  • Support community outings under the guidance of the Licensed Recreation Therapist, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Organize and lead therapeutic music activities that align with residents' interests and capabilities.
  • Engage residents in both group and individual music activities, fostering a sense of community and connection.
  • Contribute to the development of the Music Therapy program as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Respond to referrals for music therapy, implementing and assessing treatment interventions based on resident progress.
  • Maintain a well-organized music library and ensure all musical equipment is functional and available.
  • Document resident participation and progress in music therapy, maintaining accurate records for treatment evaluations.
  • Adhere to departmental protocols and contribute to the creation of new Music Therapy Program Protocols.
  • Encourage resident participation in recreational activities and assist with transportation as needed.
  • Oversee the provision of leisure materials that reflect residents' musical preferences.
  • Assist in the supervision of volunteers and music therapy students during their practicum or internship experiences.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of activity areas post-events, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Attend training and educational workshops to stay current with best practices in music therapy.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control policies and safety regulations.
  • Uphold the rights and confidentiality of residents at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution is required, along with experience working with the elderly population preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and demonstrate flexibility in scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of music theory and therapeutic practices is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Team members may be exposed to various environmental conditions and are expected to adhere to safety protocols.
