Child Development Assistant

At Small Wonders Child Development Center, we are seeking a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team as a Child Development Assistant. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about working with children and wants to make a positive impact in their lives.
About the JobWe provide before- and after-school care, as well as summer camp programs, for school-age children. As a Child Development Assistant, you will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for children to learn and grow. Your duties will include planning and leading activities, managing student behavior, and building strong relationships with children and their families.
Responsibilities and Duties- Activity Planning: Plan and engage children in organized, fun, and educational games and activities that promote learning and development.
- Behavior Management: Monitor and manage student behavior during transportation on buses and vans, and implement positive group control techniques to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with children in our care, including providing individual attention and support, and interacting with parents on a daily basis.
- Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a safe and clean environment for children by identifying and resolving potential hazards, and ensuring that all areas are tidy and organized.
- Snack Preparation: Prepare and serve snacks to children, while also promoting healthy eating habits and encouraging self-care.
- Homework Assistance: Assist students with homework, while also providing guidance and support to help them develop essential skills.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate reporting and documentation, including attendance records, transportation logs, and incident reports.
- CPR and First Aid Certification: Possess CPR and First Aid certifications, or obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Department of Children and Families Training: Complete 40 hours of Department of Children and Families training within one year of hire.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and be at least 18 years old.
- One Year of Childcare Experience: Possess one year of childcare experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The estimated salary for this role is $25,000 - $35,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
