Job Responsibilities of the Vascular Technologist

The Vascular Technologist delivers healthcare services by utilizing sound energy for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. This role involves performing ultrasonic imaging and related procedures across various ultrasound applications. Responsibilities include:

  • Producing high-quality vascular scans for patients of all ages.
  • Exhibiting expertise in vascular sonography.
  • Identifying venous anatomy in upper and lower extremities.
  • Recognizing collateral venous pathways in diseased states.
  • Executing Venous Duplex protocols for conditions such as DVT.
  • Assessing arterial anatomy and performing flow examinations.
  • Conducting Carotid Duplex exams.
  • Efficiently operating vascular ultrasound equipment.
Qualifications for the Vascular Technologist

Education:

  • Associate's Degree or higher in a relevant technological field.
  • Completion of a two-year allied health education program related to patient care or graduation from an accredited program in diagnostic medical sonography or vascular technology.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year as a diagnostic medical sonographer.
  • Preferred: One year of experience as a Radiologic Technician.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Preferred: Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography.
