Role Overview

Toyota Financial Services is establishing a new Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, and we are in search of a Senior Manager to lead this initiative. In this pivotal role, you will be tasked with assembling the SRE team and developing comprehensive processes to guarantee the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems and applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with hands-on coding, debugging, and the implementation of automation to create a more stable application environment.
  • Encourage a collaborative team culture and support the professional growth of team members.
  • Define and execute strategies focused on system reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Establish Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that align with business objectives.
  • Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and incident management systems.
  • Refine disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Lead responses to major incidents and coordinate with stakeholders for effective resolution.
  • Conduct post-incident analyses and promote continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of monitoring and incident management tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and infrastructure teams to achieve reliability goals.
  • Engage in architectural reviews, providing insights on reliability and scalability.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead the new SRE team with clear objectives and performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience in building and managing teams, with a successful track record in achieving high system reliability and performance.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Expertise in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash) along with familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
  • Strong leadership skills, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
