Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our Echocardiography Lab, you will be responsible for performing cardiac ultrasound procedures, identifying cardiac abnormalities, and communicating clinical findings to our staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures, including M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler, to obtain accurate and high-quality results.
  • Assist physicians in the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
  • Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of the examination as needed.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, obtaining clinical history and adapting imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
  • Communicate clinical findings to our staff and record statistics, performing daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment.
Requirements
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), within 1 year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School, including completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to sit 50% and stand and walk 20% of the workday. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. You will also be required to wear protective clothing, such as lead aprons and isolation gowns, as needed.
