Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our Echocardiography Lab, you will be responsible for performing cardiac ultrasound procedures, identifying cardiac abnormalities, and communicating clinical findings to our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures, including M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler, to obtain accurate and high-quality results.
  • Assist physicians in the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
  • Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of the examination as needed.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, obtain clinical history, and adapt imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
  • Communicate clinical findings to the appropriate staff and record statistics.
  • Perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting malfunctions as necessary.
Requirements
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Sonography.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to sit 50% and stand and walk 20% of the workday. You will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. You will also be required to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
