Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Nursing Supervisor, you will provide exceptional healthcare services to individuals in a correctional setting while ensuring the safety and well-being of both staff and patients during critical situations.

Your leadership will guide the Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Registered Nurses, and other nursing supervisors, ensuring a cohesive and efficient team environment.

You will act as a vital link between the operational aspects of the institution and the Health Services Unit, ensuring seamless communication and service delivery.

Your role includes overseeing the continuous functioning of medical services within the facility, stepping in as the designated Health Authority when necessary.

Essential Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted RN license in Virginia.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from a recognized provider.
  • Prior supervisory or charge nurse experience is essential.
  • Proven experience in monitoring staff performance and conducting evaluations.
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing principles, evidence-based practices, and patient safety protocols.
  • Understanding of medication management, including potential side effects.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively direct and delegate tasks.
  • Proficient in organizing and implementing departmental policies and procedures.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in a correctional or law enforcement healthcare environment is preferred.
